Warner Park, Basseterre, August 27, 2023, 4:30

SNP aims to prevent a hat-trick of defeats

  • On this pitch at Warner Park, the pacers will be essential.

Win for the Barbados Royals

PREDICTION & ANALYSIS FOR THE SNP VS. BR MATCH

After losing badly to Guyana, St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots will play Barbados Royals. The Royals' most recent game was almost ten days ago. The second game, which was called off without a ball being bowled, gave them no playing time.  The Royals must get off to a fast start thanks to Kyle Mayers and Rahkeem Cornwall.

Rovman Powell and Jason Holder are in positions 5 and 6, respectively, but a strong knock from one of the openers is necessary for a comeback.

In their second game at this location, the Patriots' batting struggled once more. Additionally, the bowlers fell short of their potential as they gave up 197 runs while bowling first. Only Evin Lewis, the only batsman in the SNP team who appears to be in fine form, and spinner Izharulhaq Naveed appeared to have some promise with the ball.

Both sides should be eager to get their batters back in shape on this favorable batting surface, especially if they are batting second.

PREVIEW TEAMS

Patriots of St. Kitts and Nevis: A Preview

S.K.I.T. and N.V.I. In the past two games played here in St. Kitts and Nevis, the Patriots have lost. With SNP scoring 156-9 while batting first against Jamaica, their hitters were their initial weakness.

In contrast, the bowlers in the following match ended up giving up 197 runs while bowling first despite taking 3 wickets during the powerplay. Both departments utterly failed in SNP's two appearances.

Only three of their batters scored in double figures as they were bowled out for 132 runs while chasing such a large target. As he hit 48 off 24 balls, including 6 sixes and 1 four, captain Evin Lewis showed excellent form.

Lewis and Ambati Rayudu contributed 55 runs for the third wicket and kept up the necessary run pace. The batting slump persisted following Lewis' ejection, and the Patriots ultimately suffered a 65-run defeat.

In the top 3, Andre Fletcher and Joshua Da Silva must step up and perform as expected. Although Sherfane Rutherford and Dominic Drakes, at positions 5 and 6, are useful further down the list, a lot hinges on the top 4.

Drakes and Oshane Thomas kept up their wicket-taking prowess, but they were highly expensive as well. Cottrell was also expensive with the ball. Izharulhaq Naveed, a leg-break bowler for this team, will be someone to keep an eye on.

Predicted Starting XI for the St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots:

Andre Fletcher, Corbin Bosch, Ambati Rayudu, Sherfane Rutherford, George Linde, Dominic Drakes, Sheldon Cottrell, Izharulhaq Naveed, and Oshane Thomas are among the players. Evin Lewis is the captain. Joshua Da Silva is the starting wicketkeeper.

Ahead of the Barbados Royals

In their third CPL 2023 match, Barbados Royals will square off against St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots. The Royals' season got off to a bad start as they lost their first game, and the following game was postponed due to inclement weather.

The last time they played a CPL T20 match was over ten days ago. Powell would be trying to leave the team's batting slump in the rearview mirror.

The batting order, which features players like Cornwall and Mayers at the top and Powell and Holder in the bottom middle order, has a lot of potential.

In the previous game, Justin Greaves, a bowling all-arounder, was inserted at number three, and Kevin Wickham, a less well-known player, was inserted at number four. If Mayers and Cornwall get wounded early, these two ought to be able to save the inning.

To help the innings' momentum, Powell can also consider batting at number 4. Given his background, Donavon Ferreira is a lock for the positions of numbers 3 and 4, should the existing numbers 3 and 4 continue to falter.

Nyeem Young, a 22-year-old right-arm medium pacer who scored 48 off 39 balls at number 8 for Barbados while pursuing 202 runs, was the only successful batter in the batting order.

The requirement for recovery extends beyond the batting order. In that game, the bowlers bowled first and gave up 200 runs. Nyeem Young had to improve and was overpriced. The team's three most important bowlers are Qais Ahmed, Jason Holder, and Obed McCoy.

Playing XI predicted for the Barbados Royals:

Donavon Ferreira (wk), Jason Holder, Justin Greaves, Joshua Bishop, Qais Ahmad, Nyeem Young, Obed McCoy, Kyle Mayers, Rahkeem Cornwall, Kevin Wickham, Rovman Powell (c),

climatic conditions

It is a solid batting surface; recently, Guyana scored 197 runs while batting first, and the Tallawahs chased down 157 runs with just 17 overs and 8 wickets remaining. The bowlers will have a challenging day, so they should aim to deliver a perfect yorker in the final few overs. Spinners, who will be important bowlers for both teams, can benefit from the surface in several ways. With a high of 31 degrees Celsius, the sky would be mainly cloudy.

Place Specifics

The St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots vs. Barbados Royals CPL 2023 match will be played at Warner Park, Basseterre in St. Kitts and Nevis. A match-winning total would be more than 180 runs, despite the average first-inning score being 164 runs here.

Throw: Bowl

SNP chose to bowl in the previous game, but they were defeated. The Royals should still be able to take the opening inning. It's a decent wicket that has favored the team attempting to reach a total. Given Barbados Royals' strong batting lineup and their own bowling performance, we believe even Patriots would think about bowling first.

winning forecast

The St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots entered this contest after suffering two straight defeats at this location. Although the Royals' last game was awful as well, it was 10 days ago. The Patriots' problem, though, has only recently begun, and their lack of momentum and form would plague them here.

The Barbados Royals haven't played a lot of cricket to gauge their potential, but given the Patriots' recent performance with the bat and ball, we believe they will have a slight advantage in this match.

Win for the Barbados Royals
